The meat industry continues to fiercely lobby against plant-based options

🚨 Ridiculous! The meat industry continues to fiercely lobby against plant-based options being able to compete on a fair basis - this time in Italy. They are insulting consumers' intelligence, who they claim will not possibly be able to understand that a clearly labelled plant-based "burger” “bacon” or “sausage” are not meat-based. Meat doesn't naturally occur in the form of a circular patty or a oblong sausage-shape - so why should the meat industry be able to claim a monopoly on these terms?

🐮 And let's be clear: Unprocessed fruit, veg, pulses, nuts and wholegrains are the lowest environmental impact and healthiest - but whatever you think of alt-meats, they should be allowed to compete on an equal basis with processed meats which have a far higher environmental footprint, and already have the support of huge livestock subsidies and the benefit of currently dominating the market)
