Meat is eating up the planet

Meat is eating up the planet

🌍 Let's talk about the major culprit of the climate crisis: Meat consumption!

πŸ– On Meat Exhaustion Day, we reach the maximum recommended meat consumption allowed to remain healthy, and within planetary boundaries. Based on the scientific Planetary Health Diet, FOUR PAWS calculated the Meat Exhaustion Day for different countries and regions in the world. The Global North, mainly the US, Australia and Europe, are the worst meat culprits of the planet and all these regions have already surpassed their respective date.

πŸ“Š What does that mean? For the whole planet to collectively reduce its meat consumption, the Global North needs to initiate the change. This is especially true for North America, Europe and Australia, where people need to massively reduce their meat consumption by nearly 80%.

πŸŒŽπŸ“‰ We urge our communities, governments, and industries to implement a reduction of meat production and consumption, and to transition to food systems that support high animal welfare and environmental protection.
