How Reducing Portion Sizes Can Help Reduce Carbon Footprint
We need to eat less meat. And what a lot of people seem to overlook is that reducing portion sizes is an effective way to do this.
If you cook with 100 g of bacon instead of 400 g of minced meat, you get a lot of flavor but you use four times less meat.
And because beef has a much higher footprint, swapping minced meat for bacon bits reduces the carbon footprint by around 90%.
Pork has a slightly higher footprint than chicken but the portion size plays a bigger role in the total footprint.
Of course, we also need to eat fewer meals with meat.
But for all meat lovers who don’t want to become vegetarian, reducing portion sizes is a great way to start and become part of the solution.
