EU Commission Proposes Binding Food Waste Targets: A Milestone in the Fight Against Food Waste

🍏🍅 Yesterday marked a huge step forward for the fight against food waste with the European Commission proposing a revision of EU waste rules, with binding foodwaste targets for EU member states.

By 2030, EU countries will need to reduce food waste by:
🎯 10% at manufacturing and processing level
🎯 30% at retail, food service and consumer level

Now to see how the UK Government responds to Europe's progress in this space. Two years ago Too Good To Go called on the UK Government to do just this - let's hope Rishi Sunak can show real leadership by going one step further and align legally binding food waste reduction targets with the Sustainable Development Goals.
